Summer Youth Institute

“Your participation in the Winter Institute program this summer I believe will be a wonderful opportunity for you to demonstrate how your interest in racial reconciliation can be extended to your fellow students. We all have a lot to do to overcome racism, and your leadership is very important. All the best!!”
--William Winter

The SYI is a 10-day institute cosponsored by the Winter Institute and the Medgar Evers Institute. Bringing together rising high school sophomores and juniors, the institute will provide training in leadership and community building as well as civil rights history. It includes workshops and field trips and will focus on providing tools to participants so that they can support local community improvement. We also hope the students will create the foundation for a statewide student network. Please follow our progress on our Facebook page.
